Ester Gomisel

Ester Gomisel graduated in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Comparative Slavic Linguistics and German Studies from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana. In 2023, she obtained her master’s degree in Slovene and German language at the University of Trieste. From 2018 to 2024, she taught Slovene and History at a high school with Slovene as the teaching language in Trieste, and she has been teaching Slovene as a foreign language for many years.
In 2024, she received the SLORI Award for the best master’s theses for her thesis titled Written skills of senior students from Slovene-language high school in Trieste, Italy. An error analysis in mid-term Slovene language assignments over the period 2005-2019. This recognition led her to start collaborating with the research institute, where she works as a researcher and a regular member of the Working Group for the Slovene Language.
She is currently a PhD candidate in Digital Linguistics at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. Her research focuses on the didactics of the Slovene language in Italy, particularly on the development of Slovene among school-aged populations, and on the creation of new teaching materials and methods that contribute to the preservation of the Slovene language beyond the borders of the Republic of Slovenia.
