The bilingual publication Projekt MOZAIK – Učinki večetničnega okolja na osnovno šolanje / Progetto MOSAICO – Effetti dell’ambiente multietnico sull’istruzione primaria (Project MOSAIC – Effects of the multiethnic environment on the primary school education) contains the results of the research project (with the same title), which was carried out in the years 2006 and 2007 in several Statal primary schools of Trieste with Slovene or Italian as teaching language.
The first part contains the introduction of Veronika Lokar and Vlasta Polojaz, followed by the articles of Marijan Kravos, headmaster of the directorate of Sv. Jakob, and Pietro Russian, headmaster of the 2nd directorate of Trieste. The two headmasters reflect about the role of school in a multicultural and multilingual environment from two different points of view. The third article is written by the researcher Norina Bogatec, who explains the theoretical bases of the multicultural education and its development in the framework of the Italian State school system. In the second part of the publication the authoress presents a detailed analysis of the poll data, which refer to the answers of the parents, teachers and pupils about the primary education in multiethnical classes.
