The working group closely monitors linguistic and socio-linguistic trends occurring in the Slovene ethnic community in Italy as well as the legal, social, economic, political, administrative and educational processes relating to the status and the use of the Slovene language in Italy.
The main research objectives include:
- periodic assessment of the knowledge and use of the Slovene language among the members of the Slovene ethnic community in Italy as well as their attitude towards the Slovene language;
- periodic assessment of the adequacy of Slovene language texts used for institutional purposes (e.g. in public administration, in mass media, in Slovene organisations, in the economic sectors, etc.);
- periodic verification of the adequate implementation of legal protection measures ensuring that the Slovene language is used in public office as well as supporting visible bilingualism.
