Project promoter and performer: SLORI-Slovene Research Institute
Project implementation period: 2007
On the 22nd September 2006, during the European Researches’ Night, the Slovene research institute carried out a promotion of its research activities and services with the organization of an Open day. The aim of the initiative was establishing new relations with a wider range of users, especially young ones, who would use the Slori in their research work (for example the drawing up of research essays for secondary school students, writing the final degree essay or preparing seminars for University students, information and guidance about the opportunities to continue with post-graduate studies or with research as a job, use of the research material, literature and periodicals).
The initiative was framed in the European research context and the meaning of research in the sociology field was underlined together with its role in the society. The morning part of the Open day was dedicated to the secondary school students. A group of students of the 3rd grade (16 years old) of the A.M. Slomšek secondary school from Trieste (which concentrates on sociological studies) prepared and implemented a research project with the help of the teachers and of the researchers. The project, entitled Raba in zloraba mobilne telefonije in interneta (Use and abuse of mobile telephones and internet) was presented in the Narodni Dom hall in Trieste, during the Open day.
The afternoon part of the initiative concentrated on the university students and was carried out in the form of a seminar on the theme Graduation composition or graduation imposition?. The seminar was held in the Gregorčičeva hall in San Francesco Street. The professors Igor Jelen, Miran Košuta, Emidij Susič, Ivan Verč and Marta Verginella discussed with the students about the possible research contents and about the methodological approaches to be used while writing the Graduation essays and about the ways to look for the right material and bibliography.
The Open day reached its end in the evening in the seat of the SLORI in Trieste.
