Suzana Pertot (ed.)
Trst, SLORI, 2004
This volume contains various contributions on the theme of linguistic development in children. The studies undertaken by Suzana Pertot are presented on the supporting role of parents during nursery school years in the linguistic development of their children, from receptive bilingual speakers to productive bilingual speakers. Norina Bogatec and Ziva Gruden examine some of the ethnic and linguistic characteristics in the catchment basin of the Slovene-language schools in the provinces of Trieste and Gorizia, and also of the bilingual school of San Pietro al Natisone. Maja Mezgec reveals the characteristics of the bilingual family contexts from the standpoint of the factors that influence the linguistic habits and development of linguistic abilities in each member of the family. Emidij Susic illustrates the phenomenon of assimilation in the socialisation process of the members of the minority community.
