The work is the updated draft of a doctorate dissertation. Due to illness and subsequent death the author could not finish it, the work was therefore completed and edited by his collaborators. The work presents several new points of view and analyses of specific aspects of the Slovene minority in all the three provinces of the region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, where the minority is present. It also includes the synthesis of the author’s efforts of presentation and interpretation of territorial, historical and social issues. The work contributes also to the theory and methodology of analysis of cross-border regions and the role of minorities in this process.
