Ljubljana, Trst, Amalietti, SLORI, 1993
The author is a researcher of social anthropology at the Bergen University (Norway). In this book he offers the Slovene public a series of essays stemming from his interest in the study of different anthropological and cultural aspects present in and among Slovenes. The issues tackled range from symbolic values in agricultural techniques and from the relation between the giving of gifts (pork and saussage) and the expression of identity, to the problems of cultural continuity confronted with social modernization and the relation between ethnic identity and linguistic code (in Valcanale – Kanalska dolina and Gailtal – Ziljska dolina). The book contains abstracts in English, Italian and German.
